# Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

### Why using "target\_installation": 6 increases electricity costs?

In general, it is expected that adding a full electric heatpump will greatly increase electricity use (and consequently the electricity costs). Especially for freestanding houses, a full electric heatpump will easily add 6000 kWh per year even in fairly well insulated houses. This is for both heating and hot water. It will even be higher if also switch to electric cooking (*"target\_electric\_cooking": 2*). Better insulation and glass will lower the electricity use somewhat, but this effect is limited. A common way to mitigate the increase in electricity use is to also install solar panels.
